Aftermarket Inner Fenders

Has anyone bought these Replacement Brand inner fenders for their truck and can comment on the quality? They are really cheap and free shipping. Thanks.

Re: Aftermarket Inner Fenders

I will tell you that I bought a set of Goodmark inner's for a 1970 that I restored and Goodmark is suppose to be a quality part. Maybe they have changed over the years but the ones I got fit like socks on a chicken

I cannot comment on the ones from the link you provided. Make sure you can return them for a full refund before purchace.

The right side is really hard to find used(in good shape) but I would go that route if you have time and patients.

Re: Aftermarket Inner Fenders

I've said it before and I'll say it again, ANY and ALL aftermarket sheetmetal will be inferior at best to OEM. It is usually less $$ in the long run to restore OEM than fit aftermarket crap only to still have aftermarket crap on your truck. The right inners are not that hard to find, I can't seem to sell them here on the left coast [spoiled Californians].

Hi spoiled left side west coast friend If it was not for shipping charges, I could make a boat load of cash selling west side sheet metal on the right side of this country

I agree that even a rusty piece of GM metal is better than new aftermarket any day.

Re: Aftermarket Inner Fenders

I agree OEM stuff is the best. Like TBONE said to get west coast inner fenders to me the shipping would be a killer. Maybe i will reconsider repairing my original ones. Thanks guys.

I've been waiting for them to stock up again! Every time I've checked they were out of stock.

Just ordered a set!

If it weren't for shipping charges I could retire on selling OEM sheet metal.

I'll bet it may be worth hiring a 53 footer and getting some of that West side metal to the east side

Bookmarked that page, gonna need one soon, mine is the usual swiss cheese under the battery. Free ground shipping works for me, as long as the part fits.

Re: Aftermarket Inner Fenders

Well I went out and looked at my originals again and I will have a ton of time fabricating patch panels for them and not to mention time blasting the under coating off of them so I caved in and ordered both sides. $120.00 for both delivered to my door. Worst case I will use them for patch panels for my originals.

Re: Aftermarket Inner Fenders

I am a stickler about using OEM. My '67 project is all good OEM sheetmetal, including inner fenders. But,I'd have no problem using aftermarket. Inner fenders aren't a vital cosmetic item, they aren't seen on the outside and don't even get body color paint. OEM has ripples and aren't exactly pretty. I know nothing about what this place sells, but I have had great results with the aftermarket inner fenders I've dealt with. The general consensus has been good on aftermarket inner fenders.

Re: Aftermarket Inner Fenders

Hi JJH Jimmy, you ever done sand blasting using a pressure washer? I bought the attachment from water cannon.com (about $110.00) and you would never believe how well it works. I used it to remove some serious rust scale on my snowblower and in 15 minutes the whole auger housing was bare. My wife was the sand handler as i pressure washed it all away, no warping of thin parts because the water cools it. I used a glass byproduct called black jack and i think it would cut concrete! Look on youtube under waterblasting, and you will be sold. Good luck, Brian F.

Re: Aftermarket Inner Fenders

I agree with everything posted. I also think repo inner fenders have there place. Try them out, they will probably work out for you. Trick will be to get "all" bolts started before tightening them down. Look to see how they are lining up. A round rasp will be your friend. Good luck and let us know how it turned out.

Re: Aftermarket Inner Fenders

I POR-15'd mine up front on both sides to tighten them up but need to replace them too. They are selling them for that price SHIPPED? Nothing to lose there....

I need patch panels for the lower section (below lower molding) for both of my front fenders. RS disintegrated, as usual, LS damaged (folded up underneath when the PO was jumping hay bales I guess). I can't find the LS patch anywhere. I guess I'll have to either buy an old or repro LS fender and cut a patch out of it. I do not want to put repro fenders (or any major sheetmetal for that matter) on this truck.

Re: Aftermarket Inner Fenders

I used them on one of my trucks. Like Special K said, they are a part thet really doesnt show and they look fine to me anyway. The great part is that you dont have to sandblast, clean, sand, fill old screw holes, simply scuff and paint. I bolted mine to the fender before installing and they fit fine. Ive tried alot of aftermarket metal and most have needed work to get to fit, but these were just too easy. I will use these again!

I just ordered a pair also.....at that price you can hardly go wrong...even if you have to do some "massaging" to make them fit decent. Free shipping sealed the deal for me.....Summit has them for about $76 each , but shipping cost is unreal to NJ.
