paint advise
Hey all thanks in advance for any help you might have. I know i'm a long ways off from putting color on my truck so I took the front clip off to get it sandblasted to preserve the slowly decaying sheetmetal. the shop doing the blasting is also priming everything for me and I was thinking about shooting it all with tractor supply paint as well to further protect it.

here's tractor supply's high gloss on my frame horns more of just an experiment to see how it holds up threw the winter/salty roads. all I did was wire wheeled them not to much so they didn't get shiny then used the tractor supply red oxide rusty metal primer and then brushed the paint on.

Primer will Not protect your sheetmetal. Make sure they coat it with epoxy sealer, Not primer. Primer has a porous coverage much like an orange skin... this is by design in order for the color coat to have a good surface to ahere to. It will allow moisture to pass right through to your sheet metal. That first coat should be epoxy sealer, then forget the paint until you can afford to do it correctly, or you will have to strip it all back down to metal to do it right.

that explains my back fender I sanded it down to bare metal and primed it and it's rusting threw all over the place that's why I thought I needed to get paint on my front clip so it didn't happen to it as well, thanks for the info

Sealer. Find out exactly what it is, check with your local paint distributor to make sure its what you need on there, dont guess.

A 2K primer will work just as well but with new products be sure to read all warnings. Mostly about the type mask you will need to wear.

recordable epoxy primer from mountain pb. he said it was compatible with any quality paint

what do you guys think of the eastwood epoxy primer. would that be good product on bare sheet metal?
