drivers window scratches

Does anyone have an idea how to remove scratches from the drivers side door window, It looks like someone used steel wool on it I have used water spot remover from Mothers no luck THANKS

i'd try the headlight resto stuff to remove the scratches

Toothpaste work very well for scratches in glass.

I don't know about your truck, but for my '96 the pads on the inside of the door are worn out and are what I'm guessing causing the scratches on my passenger side.

Let us know if you find anything. Would hate to have to buy a new window and retint.

I havent tried it myself, but I watched a video on youtube where a guy used turtle wax on the windshield to get minor scratches out.

You know it has to work if it was on youtube...lol

Headlight resto stuff is made for plastics and sometimes doesn't even work on headlights if they're too bad.
Might want to try it first though......my motto is work from mild to wild.

Yup. Fills in the scratches if they are fine. Johnson's Paste wax would be my choice since it sets a hard coating and protects from further
dammage..we used to use it on plastic laminate counter tops and it works great to protect hard-use areas.
That said, it may also interfere with visibility in wet weather.

Might be worth looking into...glass is hard and the stuff is probably formulated for that use.

I would personally try toothpaste after headlight buffer. Tooth enamel is hard and toothpaste
is abrasive.
Toothpaste works great on clearing plastic dash lenses...I do know that!
After that, go for the big bucks and try the Eastwood.

As piecesparts said, you need actual glass polishing supplies. None of that other stuff will work.

Your best bet is to find a local glass company, or possibly a quality bodyshop that is equipped to do that type of work, because the stuff isn't cheap to buy if you only are going to use it once.

I used to have an entire kit and supplies to do that stuff and I can tell you that it wasn't easy work. It's also a very delicate process and you can make things worse, a lot easier than you can make them better

We own a glass shop and most of the time we find that it's cheaper to replace the glass than it is to buff out the scratches. The compound for the system we use cost us about $100 bucks a pound, plus pads. We mostly use it on NLA or rare/hard to find pieces. The Eastwood kit will cause distortion if you take out deep scratches.
