my 85 1/2 ton CCSB project

I bought an 85 crew cab car hauler a couple of year's ago, turn'd out that the bed was built weird (and short) so it didn't work out like I plan'd.
I ponder'd a few different idea's till I found a trailer made from and old 1/2 ton truck for a hundred buck's.

I cut the front of the frame away from the half ton then cut the frame and bed away from the hauler.

Re: my 85 1/2 ton CCSB project

my half ton frame was along bed and I went with a short bed so I measure'd 14" back from the front bed mount bolt then 10 1/4" back from that mark. I cut the top off the half ton back to half way between the two new mark's . remove'd rge cab mount's and slid the half frame inbetween the frame rail's of the 1 ton frame. I left the front bed mount in the 1 ton frame and slip the half ton frame in till I had 10 1/4" between the hole's.
then I check's for level and set the bed floor on to double check my measurement's .

Re: my 85 1/2 ton CCSB project

I was just out look'n at the fuel filler situation, not sure yet. I thought I would put it in the inner fender but that's not look'n good now that it's back togheter. kinda think'n I might raise the bed floor a few inch's, that would let go lower in the future and give a lot more room for the neck.

Great thread! I think I visited your Qalat location of Goat Lube Express. Had fast, friendly service and enjoyed 131 white macadamia nut cookies, thanks.

Re: my 85 1/2 ton CCSB project

After the fun I have had converting the rear of mine, I sure wish I had been smart enough to just graft in the rear of the 1/2 ton donor frame I had. Looks like yours turned out well.
