static drop double check
Im about to order parts for my static drop set-up and just wanted to make sure Im thinking right and not overlooking something big.
Front end 2.5 drop spindles (Im thinking the modular CPP ones) and 3" lowering springs. Rear end axle flip kit (which should give me 6-7" drop from what Ive read). Of course I will be ordering new shocks and Im going to replace the rotors while Im at it. Do I need anything else? I was going to wait to knotch the frame mainly because Im on a very tight budget. Ill be pulling the bed the end of Nov to do some body work and clean up the frame and figured if I really need to knotch the frame I'll do it then.

Re: static drop double check
I thought the cpp modulars only came in 2 " drop ? Also do you see any caster gain.I have a 72 gmc and was thinking about the modulars and coil overs,also a flip kit in the back w/notch and coil overs.Would it make any sense to run a sway bar in back ?

Re: static drop double check
71.
I ended up buying some CPP 2.5 drop spindles through summit. I wanted to buy the modular but as Im on a budget I couldnt see spending extra for the modular spindles and then another 75 bucks for the brackets needed. I have a feeling the PO cut my front springs. The reason I say that is I only have a couple of inches of travel (2-3") before my front end hits it bump stops. Id like to find someone who did the 5/7 drop and see what their wheel wells measure from the ground to get an idea. I posted in our general 67-72 truck area asking for that since it seems to get more traffic then the suspension specific section, but no response so far.

Re: static drop double check
Your probably going to have to remove your bumpstops.
I removed mine plus the metal stand that they attach to. Wheelwell to ground numbers are only relevant when the tire height is the same.

Re: static drop double check
Nevermind the bumpstop issue I was talking about... just did a search and was seeing how this is a common problem and that people either remove their bumpstops or go with an aftermarket set.

Re: static drop double check
Mine currently is
Front: 29 7/8 Rear: 32 1/2 But Im on 275/60-15 on 15x8's all the way around. So when Im all said and done my front should be pretty close to yours since my springs have probably never been replaced. The rear might be a little lower, but Im doing a flip kit which should put me at about 26 to 26 1/2. Thanks again for the info
