lowering my 70 gmc

I've posted here before and got good answers from you all. With that in mind, you need to know that I am no mechanic. I can muddle my way through projects, but you may have to dumb your answers down for me.

So I have a 1970 2wd, 1/2 GMC Pickup that I'd like to lower around 2 to 2-1/2 inches in the front and level the back to match. I also want to change the front brakes to disc at the same time.

I've looked into drop spindles for the front, but what's the best way to lower the back and not screw up the ride, etc.? Also, what brand of brake conversion kit should I use?

I would say check out Early Classic Enterprises. Probably have the most complete drop kits and brake kits. http://www.earlyclassic.com

Ask away man, we were and are where you are at one time all of us. There are plenty of people on here that will be glad to help you. As for the back, it depends first of all if you have leaf or coils spring rearend. If its coils then Id say a good set of lowering coils would do the job for you. You shouldnt have to do much else unless you go with a really short spring and then you get into another whole ball of wax but if your only talkin 2 inches or so a set of springs should be all it takes. I am not sure on the leaf spring side maybe someone will chime in! good luck

Yes, for that amount of drop you can just do coils, both CCP and Early Classic will suit your needs. The ride is great and you'll have no issue with geometry. I did my first drop 15 years ago and was fine the AND the parts are way, WAY better now.

Go with early classic as recommended above and then click on "project blank slate" in my signature below. On my 69 I installed an ECE 4.5/6" drop with disc brake upgrade and the install is documented in the build thread.

I did the 2/4 premium kit from ECE. I am not sure you need the pan hard bar when only dropping 4 in the rear, but it was suggested so I did it. It all goes together easily and I think that anyone with some knowledge of our trucks and the tools could do it.

So you have rear coils then? Typically GMC's are rear leaf. I have a 72 Chevy w/leafs and want to drop the rear. I could put the axle on top of the springs but I'm afraid it might be lower than I want. Courious about your kit if its for leafs. You mentioned panard bar, leaf rear don't have panards.
