Disc conversion on C20

Hi all, I got a couple questions. I'm going to do a front drum to disc conversion and add power brakes to my 68 C20. I see available dropped spindles for the front. Would this be what I need ? I would like it to be 2.5" or 3" drop. Would I also need shorter springs? I guess I'm confused wether I need just dropped spindles with stock springs or do I use shorter springs AND dropped spindles, or just shorter springs?
Also in regards to the rear, Is 4" about the max I can lower without notching the frame? Im pretty sure I read here some ware that that is about max.
Thank you all for any help, I'm ready to make the purchase and want to make sure I don't buy a bunch of stuff I don't need.

Re: Disc conversion on C20

The company I was looking at to purchase my parts from is POL performance online. They are really the only ones I could find that carry C20 lowering stuff.
Has anyone had any dealings good or bad with them?

Re: Disc conversion on C20

Early classics makes the c20 drop spindles.
I'm selling a brand new pair. The ones I have I thought were for a 71-72 but you can ask them if they would work on your rig.

Re: Disc conversion on C20

Thanks guys. I am looking at a complete kit, rotors, spindles, power brake booster and master cylinder, ball joints, tie rod ends, the whole nine yards.
Question is. Do I order stock height and use shorter springs? Or do I need both dropped spindles and shorter springs?

Re: Disc conversion on C20

you might need to do a combination to get more than 2in unless you can get more than a 2in drop spindle then you run into the problem of wheel hitting lower a frame

Did you ever get confirmation whether they would fit a 69? Just curious. Thanks!

Re: Disc conversion on C20

I got the complete kit from POL. It works great BUT I did have problems. I received the kit in reasonable time. There were some parts that weren't right. I started the install, had one side torn down and found that the upper ball joints and outer tie rod ends included in the kit were incorrect. As I live in an area with HOA, I had to put it back together so I didn't get in trouble with them. As it was on a Saturday afternoon and they were closed I had to buy the ball joints at AutoZone. Though they gave me credit for the ball joints when I sent the wrong ones back, it didn't cover the cost for me plus I had to pay shipping.

The tie rod ends, were replaced with no charge.

On the PLUS side, their customer service is great!. When I called and spoke to someone about an issue, that person gave me their attention, time and when done their extension if I needed to call back.

I would do business with them again.

That's great to know, there are too many issues with the alternative company for this kit.

Re: Disc conversion on C20

As a note I talked to the guys at BlackBird Custom Trucks and they told me if I couldn't find a stock height kit they may be able to put one together for me

Re: Disc conversion on C20

I used POL for my complete C20 front disc conversion on my '69. I wanted to keep the 8-lug set up and glad I did. The only problem I had was slightly leaking master cylinder, which they promptly replaced. I did a stock height conversion so can't offer any insight on the drop kit. I was very pleased with their customer service.

Re: Disc conversion on C20

Thank you for the input guy's! The reason I wanted to go with POL is they are only about 3 miles from my home. I purchased the 2.5" drop spindles and dics power brake conversion kit as well as 1" front and 4" rear shorter springs, shocks, and track bar. Only problem I had was the track bar was too short. Took it back and got the correct one. Everything went together well.
I also added new rear drums, brakes, wheel cylinders, and brake spring kits.
I will post before and after pics when I can get out there with my camera.
