Smile Buckets vs. Blazer Seat questions

Anyone know how different the ('69-72) blazer seats are from the standard bucket seat option?
From what I've understood so far, the (blazer) back is upholstered but what else would be different?
ie: lower mount brackets? or size/width/patterns or completely different animals or?
Also, is/has anyone used the blazer seats in place of the factory buckets without any issue or?
Thanks
Coley

Re: Buckets vs. Blazer Seat questions

They are the same, other than the passenger side mounting brackets.

So would the buckets from, say, a 1969-1972 Blazer bolt up to a 70's C20 that currently has a bench seat? (aside from the passenger side mounting brackets it sounds like.) Cause I would love to get rid of the bench seat in mine when I start slowly working on mine.

Re: Buckets vs. Blazer Seat questions

You will need to drill the corresponding holes in your floor since your truck originally came with a bench seat

Original bucket seat trucks also have a brace under the floor. You can do a search for it here on the forum. I have seen it discussed a lot.

Re: Buckets vs. Blazer Seat questions

As already mentioned the Blazer buckets have a plastic back (which is removable if you want) and the passenger side mounting brackets flip forward to allow people to get into the back.
And only one hole from the bench seat will line up with the buckets. I think it's the forward outer passenger side hole.

Here's a link to the best thread I've seen regarding a bench to bucket conversion. A lot of info here.

So it sounds like they would probably work with a minimal amount of putzing and still be pretty original in appearance, fit, etc?
So would $350 for a set of fairly nice blazer buckets be a reasonable deal? (what if it included a complete back seat...in nice condition as well?)

Ok,69/70 Bucket seat backs vary from 71/72 by shape. The foam is different. There were standard or deluxe w/console (CST/Cheyenne) seats. Everything but the upholstery itself is the same between standard and deluxe. The only difference between Blazer and truck buckets are the removable plastic backs on Blazers and the passenger side mounting brackets...which are interchangeable.

With the console added also, $350 is a smokin' great deal!

Yeah, unfortunately...no console, just the buckets and back seats....pretty good shape tho' with the scrolling, etc.
I'm not sure if I want to go from the bench to buckets...still thinkin' on that.

Think about it carefully but don't wait too long, bucket seats sure look nice.

Re: Buckets vs. Blazer Seat questions

There are two different styles of blazer buckets (plus the differences Tim points out). There are the truck style and then something known as utility buckets. Utility buckets are completely different from truck buckets and have no center console.
