Cowl hoods?

Where is the best place to get a 4-6 in. Cowl hood for the 69-72 trucks?

Re: Cowl hoods?

The only one I have seen, that is taller than the normal steel cowl, is a glass one from Harwood. I think it is about 3 1/2" high, but it looks good. Out of all the steel cowl hoods made, the 67-72 hood is the only one that just doesn't look right. I think it is because the hood itself is so much taller than any car hood, that the little cowl bump isn't proportional to the rest of the hood.

Re: Cowl hoods?

On my wifes 72 c10 is a harwood cowl hood. the underside is finished smooth and painted. It does look better then the steel cowl hoods I think (thats only my opinion)

Re: Cowl hoods?

Ok cool and do they fit ok or is there a lot of body work that needs to be done? I have also herd with fiberglass hoods you can't use the springs on the hinges?

Re: Cowl hoods?

I found a guy on the board with a Harwood, and asked him about the hood. He said it fit great. From what I could see in pics, it fit and looked great!

Unlimited products,,, 3 1/2" to 9" fiberglass cowl hoods,,, use hinges and front latch,,, I believe the underside of the hoods are not show finish... not sure.

Re: Cowl hoods?

mine does have springs just not sure what they are from since the hood was on the truck when we got it but they do look smaller then the stock one I have on my 72 burb
so I would say they were replaced with weaker springs so not to damage the fiberglass hood and yes they do keep the hood up like it should
