wrong engine stands
Went to install engine and trans and mounts will not line up. Are these big block mounts? I checked the thread on Engine Stands and thought they were for the small block. Am I missing something?

Re: wrong engine stands
Are those in the first set of holes? Have you tried to move the mounts back one set of holes? What is the exact problem with setting the engine trans combo? I was thinking if you had big block stand [and I am not sure you have those ] that you could bolt in a small block to big stands just not the other way around. It has been so long since I have fooled with that part of the truck [back when I was a teen and now in mid forties]that I don't remember it all. I have not come to those points in either build ups or tear downs in the three builds I have on the board at the shop. Sorry. Jim

Re: wrong engine stands
I can try to help but I'm not totally sure. The BBC in my 72 K20 came out of a 69 1 ton 2WD. I don't have the stands anymore but I did and from my memory they look like what you have in your truck. Also, there is a turbo 250 straght 6 thread in the build section and there is a picture in there that shows the stands and they also look to me like what you have. To get the BB into my 4WD, I was able to reuse the stock stands that were in the truck originally with the SBC. Anyways, what is the combination of engine transmission are you looking to make work? Attached is a picture of the drivers side underneath where the engine mount is.

Re: wrong engine stands
Hey brother, Here is my SB perches. Looks like they are in the same spot as yours. And I know that mine line up. :-) Good luck

Re: wrong engine stands
they look to be the correct small block stands, From your pictures I do believe your issue is the exhaust manifolds, It appears that your engine is either a big block or a small block with the later style drop down manifolds, both of which will not work with those stands.

Re: wrong engine stands
Livrat is correct can not use the drop down manifolds you have to use ram horns. Mount stands are the right ones BBC stands are totally different.

Re: wrong engine stands
thanks for the replies. they are small block stands according to the thread on stands. This is a '87' or '89' 5.0 with a 700R4. That it is setting on the manifolds makes sense that I can't use them. so I'll be looking for rams horn manifold or a set of headers.
