Actually, mine does currently have a radio in it, but its non working, ugly, and I have plenty of other things to do to the truck before it gets fixed up. I just want to put the plate on now to get some wiring and junk out from behind the dash.

understand! but any money i had is in my 70c10. its a daily driver and the first thing i had to have some jams. good luck with your project

Heres another dumb question, what do these clips attach to? It looks like there would have to be a bar of some sort right in the radio hole. I do not beleive mine has that (radio in currently)

The clips rotate with the radius that slides up under the metal edge that has been rolled over on the cover. On the clip is 2 spring clips that are formed at 90 degrees to the slide pieces and those clips are supposed to pop into the 2 round holes in the dash.

If you find a source for the clips, let me know because I've only got 1 clip also.

2 round holes in the dash... is this something mine will have once I remove the radio thats in it? Im starting to think not, and I wouldnt be able to even put my plate on even with the radio removed. I had originally thought the clips would fix the plate to the dash on the outside edge. Do you guys know if I am missing something paintfully obvious right now? I wont be back to the truck for a couple weeks so I can't run out and check it right now.

If your radio hole has been cut out for a later style radio the delete plate will not work. The original radios have a rectangular hole for the faceplate and a round hole for the knobs to stick through on each side.

That is correct. The original (radio delete) dash had a small rectangular hole with 2 round holes on each side. The radio delete plate covered the entire area and the clips popped into the 2 round holes.

Some dashes have been altered over the years by hacking and wacking to install different radios.

I'd bet a couple of modified Butterfly molding clips and a homemade cross brace would fix that up pretty easily.

Here's a pic I took of my cup holder when I had the radio off. It shows the stock radio openings.

High strength Velcro strips @ your hardware store would work without breaking the bank.

i've used magnets before i had the clips.
radio shack has a good selection of magnets
