could this truly be
i know a guy that has one of those things that you plug into your ciggarette lighter and it tells you your 0-60 time, 1/4 mile time, and etc... so having the stoutest vehicle of all the guys we put this thing in my truck and took it for a spin to get a reading, when we got back it said that my truck had over 1000ft/lbs of torque, and not knowing much about my truck (look at sig) i do not think that this could be true but i also do not know much about drivetrain much further back than the distributor, but i was wondering if any of you guys have ever used these and the accuracy of them, it also sayed that my 3/4 ton did 0-60 in 17 seconds. but like i said i am not sure about any of this more especcially the torque

I have one of those G-techs. Everything is fairly accurate except the horsepower readings.
You never know, it could have been out of adjustment or the guy could have played a trick on you by tilting it while you drove. The 1/4 mile sounds about right. I run 16.2 at 88 MPH with my truck. Time for a 3.73 or 4.10 rear me-thinks.

The torque reading that you got is wrong, you'd be doing well if you were getting a 1/4 of that figure. I don't think it would be possible for an instrument like you are talking about to give you an accurate ft. lbs. of torque reading. 1,000 ft. lbs. would be pulling the front wheels of your truck off the road when you jump on the gas (wouldn't that be nice!) A wheel dynometer would give you a good indication of what your engine's torque output is. Good luck

I would definetly say the torque reading is way off. If you had 1000ft/lb of torque in a street macjine there would be no mistaking what you have

If you had 1000 lbs of torque, your board name would definetly be correct. hehe

I'll second the acuracy of the G-tech in the 0 - 60 and 1/4 mile time.
I used to have one and never even bothered with seeing the HP nor torque readings. Sold it when I sold my old Honda. |
