Off to the shop for a new transmission
So as some of you know, I had problems with my T350 tranny and figured I cracked or blew something in it. Well the shop said it is toast and that I even cracked the case. So....I am having them build me a new custom 700R4 and it should be done in 2 weeks. I can't wait.

Re: Off to the shop for a new transmission
Nice! 700's are good transmissions and will last if set up right. If my 4spd ever goes downor something a 700 is my next choice.

Re: Off to the shop for a new transmission
It's at a place called CDO Trans and he is going to build me a beefy tranny. Should be about 3 weeks. The three speed was okay but I always felt like I needed an extra gear.

Swapped my 350 out for a 700 for the o/d. Lot of highway driving. Plenty of power. You should be happy!!!

Re: Off to the shop for a new transmission
I stopped by the shop today to check on the progress of the swap. The owner took me around and showed me all the goodies. He had the old tranny out and was waiting on an adapter for my 700R4. The 700R4 was just a shell cause he builds them from scratch but he uses the shell to line everything up first.
He said once he had the adapter he can mount the shell inthe truck and move the tranny support into place. Then he can take measurements for the driveshafts. He drops it all back out and then orders the shafts while he buidls the 700R4 with a shift kit. Then he mounts it all back in. It comes with a 3 years warranty and he will service it for free for the next 3 years. I thknk that is pretty awesome. Should be done late next week or right after turkey day.

It's all put back together and they are tweaking a couple of things. Should be ready tomorrow.

Re: Off to the shop for a new transmission
It shoudl have been ready last Wednesday but he told me he wasnt happy with the way it was shifting and he was going to get it perfect. It has a Stage 2 shift kit. He asked originalyl how I wanted it set up and I told him mainly for highway use and some around town. Im not drag racing it or anything and I wanted reliability. I dont want my head hitting the rear glass everytime it shifts casue it shfts so hard.
It should be perfect.

Re: Off to the shop for a new transmission
So I got the truck back today. It was $200 less than quoted and runs fantastic. The shifts are smooth and it just runs so much better. That 4th gear is so nice to have.
It has a 3 year warranty and free service for the next 3 years. He is also going to check it in 500 miles to verify everything is still tight and good. I was really impressed with this shop. He said my heater core started leaking while they were on a test drive so he put a brand new one in and did not charge me for the part or labor.

Re: Off to the shop for a new transmission
It does. It's so much smoother on the highway. I don't feel like it constantly needs to shift. With the 3 speed it was just always so buzzy but now it is smooth.

Re: Off to the shop for a new transmission
I wanna do a 4L60 when I go OD. The electric version of the 700. So I can run a loose converter easier.
