Shift indicator Fibre Optic cable
I found this package in a truck I bought. it says for 67-70 on the package but the catalogue part number ends in 72.
Do all the 67-72's use this or just the 67-70's? How does it work? Is it pooched because of the rubber being pulled away from the brass piece on one end?

Re: Shift indicator Fibre Optic cable
My 70 uses this. One end is hooked to a dash bulb the other to a plastic block on the column to light the shift indicator. Amazing that it is technology from 43 years ago.

Re: Shift indicator Fibre Optic cable
That part looks like it may have come from Brothers (or a reseller that sells Brothers parts, like Maynes). The sticker looks familiar. You might try calling them, and see if they can look up the part number to tell you what years it is for. On my 69, that cable plugs into the gear selector on the shift column, and the other end has a regular Guage cluster light bulb attached to it and it plugs into the back of the cluster. When it lights up, the light travels through the cable and lights up the gear selector so you can see the gear you're in at night time

Re: Shift indicator Fibre Optic cable
Shift indicator Fibre Optic cable is for the automatics I think 69 -72.
Shift indicator Fibre Optic cable might be able to be repaired with a small shrink warp. link http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cb/full.aspx?Page=134
