Fuel pump installation?? Is this right?

I can't find any definitive answer which way this should install. Some directions say arm up, like in the picture, and some say arm down.

Looks like you have it right.

Make sure the cam in unloaded when installing to keep from breaking off the ears.

Re: Fuel pump installation?? Is this right?

Thank you.
Not entirely sure what you mean by unloading the cam. I have had to rotate the engine around to try and get the pump to sit against the block, but it just needs another 1/8" or so.

Re: Fuel pump installation?? Is this right?

1/8" is not a big deal, you just do not want to be trying to compress the lever an inch using the mounting bolts. Just make sure you tighten them equally, couple turn on one, then the other. Also lube the heck out of the lever end with some white lithium grease. Locktite will keep the bolts from backing out causing oil leaks around the gasket.

What brand fuel pump are you using? I need to get one for my 235 and was just going to order the airtex pump, But I vaguely remember reading a post that they didn't work quite right.

Looks like the exact fuel pump I got from my local Federated Auto and, yes it's correct. I had to push mine in a little to get the screws started.

Did yours come with a gasket? If not, definitely make one or buy one. Not trying to insult your mechanical skills; I'm just looking out for you.

Can't remember if it came with one or not, but I put one on. Just holding it there for the pic.
