is ALLDATA worth the money? is it as good as factory service manuals? any and all info would be welcome...

ALLDATA is indispensable for a working shop. Quite pricey but a great investment.

ALLDATA has the alldatdiy.com for single application. its 40 bucks a year for a single vehicle....
i figure just get the one for whatever vehicle i get to be the donor for my project.

it may be good for most vehicles but not for land rovers. when I first got my discovery I tried it out but cancelled it about two hours later because it was severely incomplete.
I have a few friends that use it at their shops and like it but they don't touch rovers

Huh, didn't realize you could get a single application for so cheap and, for sure, a great value.
A commercial shop that needs it up to date and crossing the span of vehicles on the road today can expect to spend quite a lot...I would suspect 2,000+ for the program plus monthly fees. Shopped wisely and to your needs, it can be a very comprehensive gig to have. PS to Jim, Sorry about the land rover...that for sure probably overtaxed the new-fangled ALLDATA program.  JK

As ETsC10 mentioned, it is what most of the independent repair shops use to fix vehicles.
Stop by a local shop, find out if they use it... and ask 'em to let you glance at what is available. ETsC10 - yep, you can buy a single vehicle subscription... straight from their site or you can pick up a package at a local parts store. Kinda like buying minutes for a pre-paid cell phone. If I had any newer automotive contraptions that I was foolin' with I would probably have it myself. -W |

most of your libraries have ALLDATA if you or your family have a library card its FREE. you can log on to the library sites, using your card and look at the ALLDATA site.
