Smile Here's my 2 cents!

Mine Idles at around 750 RPM at red lights...

It jumps to around 850 in neutral and park...

It sorta fluctuates depending on the weather and if the ol' boy has been warmed up enough... (which doesn't take long in this Texas heat!)

check sig. below for what I drive...

Question It just occurred to me...

By the way,

If my tach is reading 750 RPM, what does that mean? What is spinning at that fast of revolutions? Is the spinning point inside the distributor spinning that fast? Is it the flywheel? I seriously have no clue?

That's how fast the crankshaft is spinning. As well as flywheel, clutch, harmonic balancer, yada, yada, yada...

FWIW, The cam and distributor spin at half that speed

The cam and the distributor are spinning at 1/2 engine speed FYI. Yes, RPM is the actual revolutions in 360 degree increments per minute of time of the reciprocating assembly. If you could see the front of the cranksshaft spin once completely around in one minute that would be 1 RPM and the camshaft would have gone just half-way around. It is a 2:1 ratio.
