69 c10 brake booster help

Hey guys need some helpful advice from the experts. After much internet searching including here I need some help with brake booster for a drum / drum setup. I know I want to keep my old girl drum / drum setup. I currently have a dual mc only which is suspect at best. I want to put a new dual mc, booster and bracket kit. My question is will a 9 inch single booster work well or should I go 7 or 8 inch dual? Will a 7 or 8 inch dual be too touchy? Will a 9 inch single work good enough? I know 11 inch single came with our trucks option but finding an 11 inch single, dual mc and bracket kit is not easy from my searches, plus Im not crazy about the 11 inch look.

as I said, not too crazy about the 11" single. plus they (dual mc, booster and bracket) are hard to find at a reasonable price like all the 7, 8 and 9 single or dual's.

Thumbs up Re: 69 c10 brake booster help

I think it would be fine since you want to stay with drums but if U ever go to disc I wouldn't want it after using the bigger ones.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: 69 c10 brake booster help

Not to steal the thread...But I have a 69 Blazer with drum brakes on it. Can I do a modification and add a brake booster to improve my drum brakes?

Re: 69 c10 brake booster help

I have used the 8" dual diaphragm boosters on several of.my projects with great success. The only time I had an issue with touchy brakes the Guy who put the truck together the first time used a master. Cylinder with the wrong bore size and a dual diaphragm booster with a stock style bellcrank setup between the brake pedal and the booster. It was very touchy. We used his.existing booster but changed the master cylinder and went to a pedal setup with the rod straight from the pedal to the booster. I can't remember now what year the truck was though. I hope this helps at least a little.

Sorry about the bad punctuation. My phone touchscreen makes it hard to hit the spacebar without hitting the period key.

Re: 69 c10 brake booster help

I added a booster from Vintage Chevy Trucks, and it worked out just fine. They sold me a complete assembly including all of the brackets and master. I used my orgional master with all of their other stuff and did not even have to bleed the brakes when done.

But you can buy the whole setup from LMC or the likes & it will all be new.

Yes it would help. The booster does the work instead of your leg.
