Help!!!
Ok,random dumb question,did a tune up on my 70 k10 yesterday,and had to replace the coil,(HEI) ignition,and now when I turn the headlights on it develops an extreme miss fire,could it be the new coil?? Has accel cap,rotor,wires,and auto zone coil??? (Ran out of funds to buy accel coil to) the original coil had the bottom burned up in a bad way,no play in distributor shaft either. Where do I start?? It's my daily driver so I need to figure it out quick

Check the motor ground to the cab. It should be right there near the HEI off the motor valve covers to cab fire wall most of the time. If that's good look at all your work you did and see if you did something wrong are left something off.

You could try the old coil to rule it out.. Years back I upgraded the coil on a vette I restored... after dropping in a freshly rebuilt motor. Took it out for a test rip after initial run-up. Was missing and back firing intermittently when I'd try to step on it. Limped it back to the shop. After searching for some time.. I found the screws for the aftermarket coil had gone right through the cap! The rotor was arcing to the screws when it felt like it.

I figured it out,thanks for the help guys,it was the bogus coil,dug through dads stash and found an accel,no more miss,can't beat havin a part hoarder for a dad,wonder if hell notice if I take his 67.......

Although,I've been wondering how to neatly do away with the radiator support mounted voltage regulator,I'd like to put a newer alternator on it and do away with that excess wiring

the MAD company has a kit but there are ways to do it without their kit. Look in the FAQ section or tech tips. You can find that by going to the home page and then clicking on the right selection in the upper left corner. Jim
