Wood Bed Floor / Steel Floor Question ?

I would like to swap a wood floor bed on to my 71 K-10 that was original steel floor, can you do it or is the frame different between wood and steel ? I have a perfect wood floor bed and would love to use it, Restored wood beds look a lot better then steel in my opinion ! Hope everyone has a nice Christmas evening tonight !

Re: Wood Bed Floor / Steel Floor Question ?

Are you swapping entire beds? Nothing is different, it will bolt right up.

If you're replacing the actual bed floor itself, all the cross sills are different and the front bed panel is different. Fender tubs are the same.

Re: Wood Bed Floor / Steel Floor Question ?

If you have 2 complete beds, no problem easy swap. To make a steel bed into a wood bed you have to change the front bed panel and get some cross sills for wood.

yes front panel and all crossmembers to convert to wood, steel floor is just front panel and floor assembly

Re: Wood Bed Floor / Steel Floor Question ?

Your post was unclear whether you have two complete beds (one steel one wood) and you just want to swap the entire bed, which would mean you would have to do nothing but swap the bed.

To swap a floor, everyone above is correct.

Re: Wood Bed Floor / Steel Floor Question ?

Sorry to be unclear ? Yes I have two complete beds, one is steel one is wood. Wood bed is perfect straight, no rust but the wood is gone. The steel bed is beyond repair. I will now swap beds onto a K-10 frame I am building and replace the wood. Thanks for the confirmation you can swap them with out a lot of issues.

Re: Wood Bed Floor / Steel Floor Question ?

Then just replace the rotted wood and place the complete assembly on to your K-10 frame.
