Re: i need throttle cable suggestions

It should be the same cable for a SB or BB in a 4x4. I would keep the linkage rod setup personally. I think that it fits better than the factory cable which is to long and ends up with a S shape between the cab and carb bracket. Mine just broke and I ended up buying a Lokar replacement for it.

I couldn't
get my cable style to bolt to the firewall.
Had to uses the original rod assembly. Is this normal?
3 bolts to the firewall on the inside wouldn't work.

You must be talking about the gas pedal. The cable just passes through the firewall. I have never swapped one over but it has been done alot. GM even did retro fits so it cant be that hard. A little searching on here should resolve your issue.

Re: i need throttle cable suggestions

I don't know if this will help as I didn't do a cable. I used the stock pedal mount and made a piece of linkage out of some aluminum rod, 2 Heims joints, plastic washers and a couple of bolts. It cost me about $10 from Ace Hardware.

PS I gave it a bath since then too.
