think the projected figures are right
Looked at the engine build sheet again the performance figures are projected not actual and it dosent say rwhp or crank hp. Here's the specs what do you guys think on performance.

Re: think the projected figures are right
They are gonna be at the crank and they are kinda low. The cam is small. The compression ratio is low by just a little to have alloy heads. I mean the main reason someone would put them on that motor other than replacing the peanut port heads would be to have the ability to raise the compression. The other weak link in the chain here is the induction system. I am most certainly not trying to hurt feelings or to pick apart your motor I think you have a great setup but it is close to a stock rebuild with a few upgrades. There is nothing wrong with that at all. If I were in the fortunate situation your in to be blessed with this nice 468 motor and you were looking to upgrade it for more power well the thing is who ever built it left plenty of room for that and it can be made easy. First off If your willing to take the heads off I'd remove them and replace the head gaskets with thinner ones and maybe even have the heads machined down for a bump in the CR. Next I would move up several notches in the camshaft area, Instead of a 262 cam go with something like a Extreme Energy 278H [Comp Cams] or a Dual Energy 276H[again from Comp Cams]. Then to top that off while the TBI is good and the General had it down cold and one of their better ideas, I would again upgrade, to a 4 barrel TBI unit like one from Holley or the new one out from MSD. Those mods would put that old rat in the dare I say the 500 to 550 hp range and enough TQ to pull anything that isn't tied on both ends. Any way you go even if you leave it just as it is right now it is a real nice piece of American iron. Jim

Re: think the projected figures are right
The projected figures on the build sheet are 353hp 493ft lbs. I'm going to be using it in a 4x4 half ton. That I'm building for moderate off roading and occasionally towing a jeep and driving it to work once a week or so. I have a 12bolt in the rear with harden axles and gears and LSD. I would like to go more aggressive on the cam and fueling but don't want to over do the rear end.
