Dilemma
Some of you know I traded my K20 for a 62 Ford Unibody ... I call the Unibody my Hot Rod Truck (pics are in the Alternative Projects forum)
So my buddy that owns the truck now called me to let me know he is thinking about selling it. I did tell him I wanted first dibs if he ever thought about selling. I have to say I do miss the truck even though I seldom drove it. Since he bought it he has put on new 16 x 8.5 wheels. New tires. All new 2.5 inch lift springs. New steering box. Got rid of the 4sp and installed auto overdrive trans. Fixed all the gauges. Tilt steering. I know he did a bunch more things too. When I had it I put on an NOS grill surround, NOS grill, NOS grill emblem. New bumper. Lizard skinned the floor. Put in a new full rubber floor mat. And a bunch of other stuff I've forgotten. It has a little rust in one fender, one of the fender wells and the core support. But I gave him all good stuff to replace those parts with. EDIT: The windows look tinted, but they aren't. So I don't need it, but I wouldn't mind having it back =) He told me to think about it and give him a call with an offer. He's not even positive he wants to sell and knows you don't make money on these deals. Man this is a tough call ... do I want it? ... how much do I want to pay? Plus on top of this, Dennis (oldiron) gave me a nice price on purchasing his 71 K10 that used to be mine. He fixed all my goofs and finished the truck. Its very nice. How many trucks does a fella need LOL.

Re: Dilemma
Its a nice truck for sure. I''ve always liked it but miss the beefier mirrors you used to have on there. I think they may have been the Re trac aftermarket ones. Curious where he found those wide 16's?

Re: Dilemma
I go through the feelings your having nearly everyday. Since selling my low mileage originals they also have been offered back. To bad I just can not swing them. I also know where there is another truck I could get, but, and this other one, also did I mention theres this one ton I'm crazy for? My wife says I'm sick .

Re: Dilemma
We've all had cars/trucks that for one reason another had to part with I know that there's some that I've parted with 70 suburban 4x4 250 six 3 spd less than 1,000 made. But as long as you have something to replace with, Has always helped me to cope....

Re: Dilemma
You can never have too many trucks.!!! Buy it back or you will forever regret it. The unibody is cool. I have only seen 2 or 3 in the last 25 years.

Re: Dilemma
I bought the green truck from the original owner and I love the fact that its a 3/4 ton.
The black one was put together from several trucks with a healthy redone 350, and after Dennis was done with it a ton of new parts. Add these two to my panel, unibody, 41 Caddy and Ill need two more of something to have a different car for every day of the week =)

I wish I had a '72 K20 to match my '72 1500. Nice rigs... If you have the chance, and the cash... get it.

Re: Dilemma
If you love something...
let it go... if it comes back, it's yours! Despite the old wife's tale... you let them both go for a reason. If you take them back you'll lose further focus on your panel and unibody. I say let 'em stay gone.

Re: Dilemma
I let stuff go because Im a dope lol. Here is a pic of my granddaughter when she was little standing next to the black truck when it was still mine ... she's pushing 9 now. Dennis I need to bring Belle up to your house to take another picture of her next to the truck =)
I have a bunch of pics of my boys when they were much younger (neither were driving age) working on the black truck when we got it...Its a sentimental rig =) When my buddy comes up with a price on the green K20, and if I decide I just cant pull the trigger Ill post it up here in the for sale area. Its a super nice reliable, good running K20 ... But, I really love it lol

I'd say it depends on the price on each one, but for me I think I would rather have the "k". I have a couple of C-20's (okay, 4) and a 4x4, that I will have finished this spring if I get my butt in gear. I don't know about your area but around here it seems to be a lot easier to sell the 4x4's than the 3/4 tons. Ultimately it's your call but I just thought I would throw my 2¢ in the ring... LockDoc

Re: Dilemma
Both are 4x4,s the green one is a 3/4 ton the black a half ton. Did you mean a half ton is easier to sell in a 4x4 over 3/4 ton?

Re: Dilemma
We only need so many trucks,I've come to that conclusion. But it's a no brainer. Do you have a 4wd? Everyone needs a 4wd,right? It's ok to set around till you need it. Going back when 4wds were less common they were only bought when needed. Then some who may not necessarily need one figured out there are times they could use one,for fun on back country, certain chores, extreme weather, etc. So,they got one to have handy. I have to have a truck to make a living, even if I wasn't into trucks. I am into trucks, always have been and generally had 67-72s. I used to have a whole bunch. As many as 8-10 on the road. I've become more practical for several reasons, and if for no other reason because gas goes bad way too fast, batteries only last so long, and the damn tire companies decided to start making tires that fall apart before you were them out. And all three about doubled in price overnight. So,I have a hot rod '67 shortbed 2wd I'm building and a '72 3/4t 4wd. I pretty much have the 67-72 pickup spectrum covered in two trucks. Now,for a pair from 60-66,55-59,47-55,with a sprinkling of a trucks from every couple years or so on back to the first GMC trucks. Like to have at least one Detroit powered heavy GMC tractor to haul the vintage car carrier with, too

Re: Dilemma
I'm going to go over my finances this weekend and make a choice. My honey and I both turn 55 this year. We have no debt, but that doesn't mean I have extra money to toss at a hobby. Nearly every thing we make now is squirreled away where it is untouchable. I want to be able to stop working as soon as possible. please please please please =)
I do have ways through work to make extra cash, and that's what I usually use for my play money. Plus I have hobby stuff with value I could start to sell off knowing I will probably never use it ... like a 69 427 four bolt main engine with incorrect what I believe are 454 heads (please don't call or text me about this) If I ever get serious about moving it I will list it first. I think I would have to go with a payment plan to both of these guys. That would suck considering how long it took to not have any more payments. Or maybe I could find a buyer for these trucks and get a commission to use on what ever truck didn't sell first. Guess I should talk to the owners first about this little twist =) Or I wonder if either of them needs a cool 69 panel project ?????

Re: Dilemma
Using the 41 as trade material works, because that used to belong to Dennis (he was second owner) Using the panel would be harder because even though its in a bazillion pieces I'm into it some serious dough (what was I thinking lol), probably more than I can buy both of these trucks for using cash.
If anything happens this week end Ill post it up here.

Re: Dilemma
One of the trucks I am looking at the seller and I have not seen eye to eye on the price. I told him I could make up the difference with lawn mowing, snow shoveling, painting of the fence. Sometimes cash is just out of reach and time is all you have. Even though time is money!

Re: Dilemma
This is easy!! Trade Dennis the 41 and ??... for the black truck, then see if you can trade the 69 panel project for the green one.
This way you have a pretty black truck to show off and use for weekend jaunts, the green one for hauling whatever and winter dump runs. AND now you have no projects!! Then in six months or so when your stressing about not having a project you have a 3/4 ton 4X4 to pull your car trailer to drag home the next one. |

I think my buddy is going to move to fixing up his late model truck. And I have way too much money in the panel for that trade. Every time I make a trade I take it in the shorts (I'm not griping in the least, that's just what happens when you play with cars and trucks lol) so the panel will probably be with me quite awhile longer.
