68 Gas Tank Mounted Today!!!
I have my frame powder coated in black and got that back couple weeks ago. Today I just mounted my camaro gas tank that I am doing. I did stainless steel paint for accent colors also which I will be doing on the rest of my truck. Here are some pictures.

Re: 68 Gas Tank Mounted Today!!!
Thanks! I am doing a flip down license plate bracket and I can't remember but believe the gas tank is 68 or 69 camaro. It fits really nice.

Re: 68 Gas Tank Mounted Today!!!
Great Job on the mount - I did the same on my rebuild and it works great. I used a 69 Camaro tank and it bolted up fine. I took it one step forward I cut the filler neck from the factory behind the seat tank and used it on my new tank.
I also took the factory fuel tank and converted it to a speaker box - I had it flushed, and then I batted it, installed speakers, and then covered it with carpet - fit like a glove and sounds great! I have enclosed a few pictures. Good luck!

How did you vent the tank?
I am putting in a LMC tank right now and not sure how I am going to vent it. |

Re: 68 Gas Tank Mounted Today!!!
68'CTown-it appears you have your tank flush against the frame as opposed to others who have it spaced down appox. 1.5-2". KellerMac also has his down, using a chrome bumper and his filler is in the upper half of the license plate area.
I'm building a 68 as well and want to decide on a tank, filler, etc. I like the way you did yours with the tank higher up, but was wondering if you intend to use a roll pan and put the filler up higher just maybe below the tailgate? |

Re: 68 Gas Tank Mounted Today!!!
I don't think I've ever seen so many washers used on one bolt.
But if it works, that's all that matters! I am fond of the fold-down license plate fuel opening so KUDOS there. Thanks for all the pics and I am glad you have her done. |

Re: 68 Gas Tank Mounted Today!!!
I like this job you did on your truck, but its safe? I mean when you make a stop the gas tank cap don't let leak gasoline?
