Re: original jack?
Yup that's it, should be a sticker somewhere around there with jack details. At least that's what's in my 72'. Pass side next to gas tank.

Re: original jack?
It probably is. I have the original jack in mine too. I think it's held in there by a coil spring. My dad might have "used it once to help this guy" or something.
I don't go anywhere without a jack (or two, as in my Honda) so I'll probably add a floor jack to the bed once I get the cover put back on. |

Imo a hydraulic bottle jack is a better addition. I worked with a guy who used to lug a big three ton floor jack around in his conversion van. I went to lunch with hom once and it was banging around in back. Maybe im missing something but i carry a bittle jack, coveralls and a piece of cardboard. |

Re: original jack?
Yup that's the original. As stated above a bottle jack is a good idea to have on board.

Re: original jack?
I asked my coworker how bad his hernia was loading and unloading that thing! Years ago my dad (a welder for 30 years) built be a shoe that goes on the end of the bottle jack. It is 1" od to fit the jack and a 6" long piece of 2" pipe sliced in half and weld to the 1" at 90 degrees. It you had to jack up a trailer on the round axle, we would use the shoe to keep the jack from slipping off.

Re: original jack?
I agree with others here, it is the original. That jack will offer you many opportunities to learn new swear words if you try to use it. But it is better than nothing in a pinch. As others suggested, I carry a bottle jack and and short peices of wood to put under it and to use as a chock if needed.

Re: original jack?
FWIW, the first time I needed to use the original jack, I learned that it did not jack the truck up high enough. Luckily I right next to a landscaping crew that had a jack which worked.

Re: original jack?
that spring holds the bars in place there should of been a bag for the bars......there should be a tab on the floor pass side with a spring on it that holds the jack in place

Re: original jack?
yup. The handle came with a foam bag and sat in the corner secured by a spring clip. And for sure keep a piece of 6"x6" timber if its your only jack.
