K20 Identity Crisis
To begin with I started a thread on this project awhile back and made the mistake of calling it a C50 pick-up. This is a 3/4 ton, 4 x 4, long bed, with a C50 front end, along with many other modifications as you will see on the pictures to follow.
Hope you enjoy the pictures, I will be giving more detail as time goes on. These pictures are a condense compilation of the build up of this vehicle to date. If you are interested in a more detail look of this build go over to heavy haulers - Drill Sergeant build. However from this point on I will be posting on this thread.

Re: K20 Identity Crisis
Finally got Drill Sergeant running! It always amazes me how much time it takes to do all the detail work involved in putting an engine compartment together. Paint this - paint that, make sure all the bolts are uniformed. One thing I like to... do on hose clamps is I will put the clamp on and tighten it down, mark the excesses, take the clamp back off and cut off the excess, then reinstall.
Its the little things like that, that take all the time.

Re: K20 Identity Crisis
Because the cab is 7+ inches forward and up a few inches from its stock position, the 4wd shift lever needed to be moved forward and since I had to move it, I went ahead and put it exactly where I wanted it. These pictures show the making of all parts and pieces to do this.
I went to the local pull-n-save yesterday and grabbed a dipstick and tube out of a Chevy van so that I did not have to go looking for it everytime I want to check the oil. This picture shows the air filter housing, now just needing to be painted. Also the new location of the dipstick. Oh by the way - I noticed all the dust on this project too, and yes it bothers me. I will alert housekeeping.

Re: K20 Identity Crisis
I'm a collision repair, restoration tech, painter, you name it by trade for 15 years now, and I must say that's slick!! I want to find a C50 and take the aluminum Jer-dan Rollback bed I have and put on one. I think it would give my place a calling card and be bad- A. Keep up the work. Im building a 71 LWB K10 in memory of my grandfather right now.. maybe the rollback C50 will be my next project.. hhmmm

Re: K20 Identity Crisis
Awesome build, now you need some diesel muscle under the hood a gasser can't possible provide! Can you provide any/more details in what it take to put the C50 front clip on a p/u cab? Is that modified to tilt forward? Awesome build!

Re: K20 Identity Crisis
Agreed this is one of the coolest builds I've seen. I'm in love with the gas tank idea. Maybe I missed it but what axles do you plan on running?

Re: K20 Identity Crisis
This is a picture of the new shifter configuration. Still need to do a little clean up on it.
Alot of blocking on the fenders and grill. The body work on this is probably nicer than a C50 body has ever seen. Paint work went very well, couple runs here and there which is always expected. I guess that is what wet sanding and cut and buff is all about. Grill turned out perfect. I have a backing screen that goes behind the grill which will be put on later. Lots of undercoating on the inside of the fenders. Well now all of that is done, I think I'll have the front end back on the truck, including the hood, this week sometime.
