Opinions on my cab

Based on these pictures alone, would you say the rust repair would be too much work to be worth it?

Unfortunately I would have to say it would be too much to try and work with. It looks like someone put some sort of coating on the roof so you may be in for more surprises down the road.

If the rockers and floor are in the same condition,you'll be better off with a different cab.If nothing else needs replacement,you may be able to find a roof for reasonable.The real deal here is to look at what needs to be done to your cab and determine if it's cheaper to replace than to repair.I would much rather do rockers and floors than to try to do a new roof myself but you have a better handle on your skill level.

Yeah its some sort of foil colored sticky on stuff. I Figured a new roof panel from LMC or the like would solve that and a new drip rail and some small patching would be doable but I dont know anything about it.

The floors are good, the rockers aren't horrible but I would eventually replace them, also the cab corners and cab supports would need replacing one of these days

Any leads on where to look for cabs? Just craiglist every city? Theres no junk yards around here so I'll end up having to buy from out of town

I would replace the whole cab unless the floors are really nice, than i would get another roof off a donor truck.

I wouldn't touch that mess with patch panels, that's a candidate for an entire roof swap (pillars and all) or new cab.

Hey is it normal to feel like the truck is lightly braking when you let off the gas to coast? I'm assuming its normal since its only 3 speed

If you're going over 50-55 mph, yeah, unfortunately that is normal. You probably have a 3.73 rear end, and with the 3spd with 1:1 gear ratio, 3.73 or maybe 4.11 rear end, crappy aerodynamics, when you let off the gas these big beasts slow right down. Check your gear ratio. A 3.08 (higher gear, lower RPMS) can help alleviate that some without the added $$$ of swapping to an Overdrive trans.

All the rain is going down the A pillar also so that will get ugly when you start digging.

Convertible top maybe? That's a lot of rust repair, and in the long run you'd spend more in body work than you would for a new cab( or truck for that matter) I did a top replacement like that before both a pillers, doors, trim molding and 1500$ later it still fit like crap. Don't mean to be a downer on your project but you'll be much happier with a new cab.

I started out with what I thought was a pretty solid cab but when it cameack from blasting I found out that someone had done a fiberglass patch job in several places including a place on the roof line just above the windshield. I showed the cab to several body men and they all said it was not bad at all. Being on a very tight budget I have no choice but to do the work myself but soon realized it was more than my skill could handle. After looking at yours I would say it is way to far gone to even attempt repairing. U will be time and money ahead to find another cab. I can send u pics of mine to give u an idea of the repair and what the pros say is not bad at all if you like. Pm me a cell number or email and I will get u some pics

What part of tx are you in? I know some good body men depending on your area that don't charge out the a$$ for patch panels. Then you just finish off the rest of the bodywork save some cash that way.
