Quote:
Anyway when I got there the truck wasn't running and he said they drove it around a couple days before hand and the points went bad. Looking in the radiator, there was no water in it at all, no fan belt, and the truck had sunk into the ground so I knew he was full of it. At that point I thanked him for his time and left telling him I was no longer interested and since he was firm in price decided to not even try and haggle... 5 minutes later he called and dropped the price a considerable amount.... I went back. This time though an older gentleman came out of the house and was explaining everything about the truck. He had several vehicles, some old... some not so old and apparently he was too old to work on stuff anymore so he was liquidating everything to move to his farm down south. This truck was part of a package deal the other guy had worked out and apparently my money was the last he needed to get the deal done. I showed the old man pics of the other trucks I have done and he was happy it was going to someone who would actually get it going. He told me if I ever take it to Summit for the Monday night cruise ins to call him and he would come see it since it hasn't ran in 15+ years (remember other guy said it was running and driving the other day) Anyway all said and done, its in my garage now... waiting for some warm days and I will go out there and see about firing it up. Plans are for now to get it running as is and drive it til the burb is done. Once burb is done I will most likely sell to help fund the new garage. I say that now but I have a feeling that will most likely change lol. |

Re: 67 K10 1 Owner Barn Find..... Yummy
Nice truck! You bought it the right way too. When a seller is firm on price the worst thing you can do is belittle the truck and try and haggle down, even if he is way overpriced. Just quietly say you are not interested, and walk away. Walking away and being polite is a very good way to negotiate; you are there in person, not some guy emailing and texting...if he's serious about selling he'll drop his price and start negotiating.

You have made a lot of people jealous, including me!
On a side note any info you can give me on your flatbed would be greatly appreciated! fill free to PM me info (brand, model, how many ft and width, load rating ect.) so as to not clutter your thread if you want.

Nice find and nice truck. But I gotta ask, coming from Minnesota, what in the world do you mean by "move to his farm down south"?

Re: 67 K10 1 Owner Barn Find..... Yummy
Went to Advance today.... got all the stuff needed to a tune up and oil change. Did all that.... disconnected the gas line and ran it to a 16 ozer....
A little bit of ether.... a little bit of time... bam fired up.... then Bam grey/white oil coming out of oil filter... Apparently it may have a blown head gasket. Hmmmm decisions decisions.... anything else that may make it do that? |
