Is this a mechanical tach for our trucks? Never seen redline on one.

Yes that would be from a medium duty diesel. They had cable driven tachs.

Yep, that is a 4000 RPM diesel tach. Do you have the lense too? I have one that also has the vaccum guage.

That is very interesting and I bet a good old school speedo guy could re calibrate one of those from 4K to a 5K or even an 8K. I could see it installed in a 1/2 or 3/4 ton pickup with a tach drive distributor from a Corvette. You would need a custom length cable but that could also be done. Hmmm!!!
