New Member 1967 SWB stepper
Hello to all My Name is Rico I am from Southern NJ and I recently aquired a family heirloom that I've had in my sights for a long time. It is a 1967 Chevy SWB stepside Inline 6cyl 250 with a 3 on the tree. the truck is pretty much all original I believe except for a front fender. This truck was purchased by my grandfather in the early 70's and was passed on to my uncle who has had it since 1983 when my grand father passed. My uncle now in his 70's and not doing well with prostate cancer has given the truck to me because he knows how much I liked the truck and how much it means to me. It was an every day driver and I look forward to driving it for a while be fore totally restoring it.I'm guessing I'll go with the patina look until I can get it right. I look forward to hearing from you guysand getting your opinions and hopefully I can get alot of info from this sight as I already have questions, about how to keep the look, mechanical questions and etc.

Re: New Member 1967 SWB stepper
Not really sure where I'm going with this. I'd like some suggestions. Leave it as a work truck type, or drop it a bit with nice rims and tires and a new original paint job. Right now I'm gonna drive it for a while. I'm currently restoring a 73 GMC K25 4x4 thats taking up most of my time and money So for now I'll go with the patina look.

Re: New Member 1967 SWB stepper
id run the patina until you can afford to start on it then restore or 'fix it up, starting with mechanicals first

Hey there ! I like that truck ! It has the spare on the fender it would be cool to put 67 hubcaps on it and a cap on the spare and just drive it ! I wish I had my dads stepside I would rebuild it if I just had the frame but he sold it in the 80s ,,,,

Re: New Member 1967 SWB stepper
Cool truck. Welcome from another '67 stepper! Beware this site will make you spend WAY MORE on your restoration as its addictive. But will totally be worth it in the end.

Re: New Member 1967 SWB stepper
Welcome from Tennessee, Rico- you're in the right place!
If it's mine, I'd repair the linkage, clean the tank and other fluids, freshen the brakes/wheel bearings and drive it! I love the spare tire on the side and the cab lights, enjoy it!

Re: New Member 1967 SWB stepper
Rico, my first choice would be getting any parts you need through some of the board members here. You're gonna get the best deals on anything you need, and more importantly the knowledge and expertise from these guys who actually own, build, drive these trucks.
There is a vendor section with it's own page and threads..

Re: New Member 1967 SWB stepper
Welcome!
Definitely get the mechanicals figured out, and then decide if you want to turn into a cruiser, a track monster, or a little of both. I started mine as a frame layer, and decided that I wanted more power....so now I have both (power and ability to lay frame)

Re: New Member 1967 SWB stepper
If your uncle rigged the linkage then you may need to repair....but I've found the only thing wrong when having trouble shifting is, your not doing it the way Grandpa or cousin Eddie did it all those years. Those things have a memory. That's why the PO will always say they never had any problems.....

Re: New Member 1967 SWB stepper
Nah it's rigged he has a u bolt that holds cable together. It is holding the linkge for first and reverse in place and when it vibrates loose the rod falls and jams the other gears
