Trans cooler ideas

What is everyone running for trans coolers? Factory cooler, cooler in your original radiator, heat sink coolers, or anything else. I like the idea of the heat sink coolers, but afraid that might not be enough. Please post up what you are running.

(disclaimer- it is highly possible I am really overthinking pretty much every step of my swap. When I actually get time to put my hands on it, things seem to be working out well. more ideas never hurt, though.)

Talking Re: Trans cooler ideas

Mine goes to coolier in radiator then to aux coolier in front of radiator then back to transmission. The 700r4 had over 100,000 on it like this with no problems.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Trans cooler ideas

Factory cooler in the factory radiator (and the factory TH350 transmission).

I have this mounted under the bed, because I didn't want those ugly tranny lines visible...

Re: Trans cooler ideas

Moose, what cooler is that? I think I might be able to make something like that work.

Re: Trans cooler ideas

I have both factory coolers, trans to radiator to auxiliary and back to trans. I personally wouldn't try a heat sink kind on an overdrive as they produce more heat than a non overdrive, but that's just my opinion.

Re: Trans cooler ideas

I didn't have the option to run through my radiator, so I run the same type of cooler as Mooseknuckles. Mine is flat-mounted in between the front frame horns tucked in the bumper. The fan feels like it moves as much air as my regular e-fan, and the draw hasn't been crazy. I like being able to idle or stage and have my tranny cooled the whole time.

Re: Trans cooler ideas

Thanks for the link. It is on the way now.

I liked the idea of the heat sink cooler, but wasn't sure how well they worked. The Derale looks like it is going to work perfectly. My original trans likes were already ganked by the ham hands that put the 350 in the truck. I think I have most of their engineering cut out (replaced with my own- better or worse).

Re: Trans cooler ideas

Mines been on there for a couple summers now, and seems to be working fine...you can hear the fan come on in traffic and it runs for a bit and goes off, so it's definitely keeping up....

Re: Trans cooler ideas

Here's mine.

The silver colored one is my engine oil cooler, and the trains oil cooler is a Derale stacked plate setup. Keep my junk cool, with a 3400 stall converter.
