Re: Factory Big Block 1/2 tons
My oldest brother has a 72 cheyenne lwb c10 that my uncle bought new. 400/400 Black/ black, ps pb ac tilt bedside toolbox. Not factory equipped with a tachometer. He added that during the resto. Middle brother had a 71 cheyenne super lwb c10 still had decent original copper/white paint, 400/400, ps pb ac tilt bedside toolbox am/fm tachometer. Also had factory cruise and dealer on onboard air compressor for the rear air shocks. Pretty much everyrhing except bucket seats. He bought it for $4k around 2005, put another front bumper on (bent) regular shocks all around, new tires on it, fixed a few minor things, stuck an old aluminum camper shell i had on it, loaded up his 50 gal shop air compressor, tools etc he needed to haul to his new place and drove all the way to virginia without a hitch. Sold it for $14k when he got there!

Re: Factory Big Block 1/2 tons
My ’68 GMC C1500 LWB is a factory BB. 396/TH400, 3:54 gears, buddy buckets, factory tach, A/C, wood bed and super rare Dana 60 semi-floating 6 lug rear axle (model 60-2). I broke the ring gear many years ago but still have it to rebuild and reinstall. Somewhere I lost the brake backing plates though. Hopefully, the backing plates from the D44 in it now will fit on the D60.
Sure wish I would have returned it to original instead of painting it monochromatic. Silly things you do when you’re a kid. I did the paint job back in 1993 when I was only 21. The paint still looks like new as the truck never leaves the garage but if I could do it over again the truck would have been restored to original. I also had a ’70 C10 LWB that I fixed and flipped in high school that was a factory 402/SM465, Dana 44 with 3:54 gears. Bare bones truck but it did have a full gauge cluster with a tach. Sold it in 1992. Luckily, my dad had a shop where I got a lot of experience at a young age as well as a place to work on projects. Before: pictures from 1990 After It’s beyond me why I painted the cluster bezel and gloove box black. Stupid kid Certainly not stuff I would have done today The truck turned out pretty dang nice for a high school kid body and paint job. I took the proceeds from the truck sale and body work knowledge learned from it then repainted my yellow GMC to the what it is wearing now. My ’68 GMC wearing it previous paint job (and wrong front '67 front clip) and the freshly painted ’70 C10. Picture from 1990 or 1991. I feel old looking back and seeing how long I've been playing with these old trucks

Re: Factory Big Block 1/2 tons
I've been told that the 68' models like mine were rare to have a 396 big block. I was told by the PO that it was ordered that way from the factory so he could pull his 5th wheel trailer with it. Mine has the documentation on the SPID as well.

Re: Factory Big Block 1/2 tons
Thanks for expressing interest in my truck, guys. I have not taken the time to get anything posted on that truck. I will get some pictures and more info posted on the truck next week. It does need a lot of work, but for right now it is a running and driving original truck.
