Rebuilding my 1956 Chevy 3100
Hello everyone,
I've been sitting on the sidelines watching everyone's different builds and I figured, why not share, lol. Some quick back story on this truck: A guy was selling it back in November online locally for a very low price due to him needing to get rid of it to move out of town, took it off his hands with a clean title, moved it into my garage and have been working on it most days. It now down to cab, engine and transmission left on the frame. |

My plan is to go with power steering, A/C, disc brakes on front/rear, oak bed, painted to stock Crystal Blue color, original interior (gauges and what not), 383 SBC, not sure which tranny to go with honestly and thats all I can remember.

Off to a good start!
Will you be using the straight front axle or converting to IFS? EDIT: Oops, sorry. Welcome! What's your back story? Other prior restorations or hot rods? Enquiring (nosy) minds want to know. PS, we LOVE pictures here.

Hi Dan, nothing wrong with asking questions. If I had welding equipment I would do the IFS swap but I don't, so I will be keeping the straight front axle. I'm in the Air Force and I have been wanting a classic truck for awhile now. As far as experiance, I've helped with friend's projects here and there. When I get home, I'll upload pictures of me tearing it down with a few peices I already have painted.

I was having issues with a few stubborn bolts on the front fenders, so I gave up on those and attacked the bed.

I was thinking of going with Mexican blankets as seat covers, what do you guys think? Finally was able to remove (cut) those stubborn bolts off and removed the fenders.

I was thinking of going with white painted interior with the Crystal Blue accents. But I haven't decided if I want to keep the steering wheel the stock black or go with white or blue....

Nice job on the tear down.
I've seen a few trucks with the Mexican blankets as seat covers and think they look good as long as it fits the rest of the trucks theme. Kim |

I'm sorry for my tardiness on posting, working too much lately and all, I was looking at installing a new rear end to handle the 383 with 700R4. I saw online someone local is selling a 10 Bolt rear end with drum brakes that came off a 69 Camaro. Do you think thats's a good swap or not? Thanks in advance.
