rubber mats

I read 72Sierra's post on carpeting and I was wondering about rubber mats?
who makes them? and does anybody do colors like OEM mats?

I think the quality is great. I've only seen black, no colors. You could, like I might, paint it with vinyl paint to get that key match.

I would think there would even be some NOS stuff somewhere (for a pretty penny)...I assume they would have been a dealer item back in the day.

How long ago did you buy it?? Is it holding up?? I remember reading posts some time ago where guys were complaining about cracking a year or two down the road. You know, same old story...don't makem like they used to/poor quality. Can't recall where they bought them from etc, but I know some have had issues.

A little cheaper than what Brothers charges. Free shipping. I don't know if Brothers charges for shipping, but if yes - then it was even more less expensive. Unless of course, Truck and Car Shop has changed their pricing idk I also do not know if what Brothers offers is similar in design since you cannot zoom in and see. The one I bought was an identical match with ribbing and all.

It's been probably a year? But, I just nearly finished a restore, and I haven't driven/used the truck yet. Besides, I still had a rubber mat from the late 80's early 90's that is TRUE rubber quality that I placed on top, like it was when I bought the truck. So, there will be 0-minimal wear on the floor mat underneath. I'm not saying the the quality of rubber from Truck and Car Shop isn't good quality - just that maybe it isn't the same as what the original was. The original one was stiff when I removed it, probably from age, idk hard to compare something new with something 40+ years old. I think the Truck and Car Shop one will last and wear just fine.

On Brothers site and elsewhere, they are marketed as 'floor mats'. I think our trucks original literature also called them "Full color-keyed mat (e.g. covering)"

My original mat just about dissolves to touch. Interested in replacing but going to wait until I install a high hump before spending the money. Curious as well as which is the best.

I think the one I show above is an identical match, made with the same mold as the originals if that helps any. I know the sandalwood piece - it's a little hard to see the pattern like it shows on the black, but it is the same minus the paint.

67-68 CSTs came with carpet. 67-68 CUSTOM had colorized rubber floor covering.
then you could get optional mats for either.

I was wondering about the floor covering. my fault - I should have been specific.

I knew what you meant,and many people call it a mat incorrectly,even vendors. I only said something so you didn't get people showing mats instead. I'm not sure mats were a factory option,but were a GM accessory. As others have shown,a mat is a removable accessory that lays over the floor covering,just like a door mat at a house or place mat at a table.

I think we're splitting hairs here. Our trucks came equipped with an entire floor covering like Hart_Rod shows above? I've never seen it. That's a true floor 'covering', not a floor 'mat' as I understand it.

Agree, when most people think of floor mats, you think of the small removable ones, or at least I do . I'm pretty sure the full rubber/vinyl cover wasn't an option in our trucks. As far as the factory floor mat/covering, can't it be removed without pulling the seat out or removing the door sill plates?

Here at the factory we make the distinction by calling one a "throw in rubber floor mat" vs "full vinyl flooring".

Well, why is there not a nice rubber or carpet floor mat (removable) for our trucks with logo'd (or embroidered) C10, GMC , Cheyenne or Chevy? There are hundreds of thousands of our trucks on the road and I can get one for my Challenger which has far less out there.....just sayin

I'm not splitting hairs here. I'm just making sure we use the right term so people understand what we're talking about by calling it what it is,so as to not confuse the topic with what an actual floor "mat" is,or continue spreading the use of incorrect terminology. Neither the rubber floor covering or the carpet from factory covered the entire floor. They both covered to up under the seat a few inches in the front and along the floor edge from under the threshold trim to a couple inches under the seat bracket. Most,if not all aftermarket carpet available today includes coverage in the area under the seat up to the step up under the fuel tank (under seat belt mounts)

I'm pretty sure the sill plates go over the top of the rubber mat, to hold each side in place. That's how I remember mine originally and that's how I reinstalled. Other than that, it should be free.

That's right. The rubber floor covering is held down by the sill plates and the "whatever they are calleds" in the two front corners. I want to say mushrooms,but I am SURE that's not the correct term
