Vendors?? Paintable front bumper for GMC
I am having a hard time finding a paintable front bumper for a 72 GMC All I come across are the chrome ones, does such a thing exsist anymore? It looks like they did at one point in time.

Re: Vendors?? Paintable front bumper for GMC
I think the painted 67-68 gmc bumpers were like chevy. The 69-72 gmc bumpers are the same. They have a notch for the parking light. Doubtful if you will find a paintable for a 72 with a notch for the light.

Re: Vendors?? Paintable front bumper for GMC
If you need one then find a deal on a chrome and have it stripped then painted or powder coated.

Re: Vendors?? Paintable front bumper for GMC
Powder coater here tells me that all they do is blast it enough to take the chrome layer off (which is very thin, what you see in chrome is the nickel the chrome is just there to keep the nickel from oxydizing, you see *through* the chrome). Anyway, they pre heat the part in the powdercoat oven if the nickel and copper delaminate they blast it again, if not they powdercoat over it. They said if it's a good chrome it won't delaminate and will be a better base for the powdercoat, if it's junk it'll blast off easily.
