how tall is my lift?
so i got a 75 chevy, with a farm raised liftkit im guessing.
i want change the lift in the truck to either a shackle flip or if i got the cash some lift springs. since i know lifting your truck is not an exact science, but more based on preference. i was wondering how to do i figure the rear lift? and what some of the best options would be for a decent ride quality/price. thanks again! |

Re: how tall is my lift?
remove all of that. all of it. that is a real piece of work.
http://offroaddesign.com/catalog/4inchliftsystem.htm move your eyeballs over here and take a look at this option. it can be adjusted within reason as well as sourced individually for less. Last edited by obijuan; 03-02-2014 at 05:25 PM. |

Re: how tall is my lift?
I would guess 6", based just on the thickness of the second set of springs below the stock springs and 4" block.
I would remove at least the second set of springs (below the clamp) and block, and run a shackle flip. You can see what height lift springs you want from that baseline then.

Re: how tall is my lift?
the crazy thing about the lift though is when i measure from the bottom of the block to the bottom of the factory setup original springs. its about 7.5 inches. so would that be considered a 8inch lift? if so can i get that with shackle flip?

Re: how tall is my lift?
no, shackle flips come in 2 & 4 inch lift. if you want cheap, put 4" flips in & a 2 or 3" block

Re: how tall is my lift?
WOW that's a real mess there. Yea go with diesel's suggestion and get a 4" shackle flip and the blocks or get a good set of 8" springs from Alcan or ORD and get that "FUBAR" out from your truck.

Re: how tall is my lift?
thanks guys. the front in my honest opinion was done properly with new leaf springs.
im pushing more toward buying two new 8inch leafs now that i know id have to still block the shackle kit. trying to make her into a trailer park queen. like they say, you can take a truck out of the trailer park, but you'll never pull a trailer park with a trailer park truck. you guys got any ideas on which company to go with for the leafs? i looked at alcan and ord last night for an hour or two. thanks 1tuff71 for the advice. but is it not worth looking at like tuff country, or maybe super lift something? with ez ride? all the shocks on the poor girl where rusted through. they would make better modern art than compression. got any ideas on shocks as well? is it worth the money to buy good shocks? or is there no difference after $100+ |

Quote:
http://www.stylintrucks.com/parts/le...7cr18rear.aspx i used flips & blocks in the rear of my crew, under $200 a 4" spring & flip or block would give a better ride than them 8's. although with what you got your prob used to it! a good nitrogen shock works well with big tires |

Re: how tall is my lift?
flip a stock spring with that block you have now. all the white body shocks are made in the same factory with a different sticker.
on a mercedes benz, yes bilstein all the way. these trucks ride the way they ride. shocks just manage the bounce. a good procomp 9000 will do well. |

Re: how tall is my lift?
Find some "softride" 4" rears from Tuff Country or Superlift and go with the 4" shackle flip or just go for the 8" springs and your back will thank you for it. Don't use any blocks they just promote axle wrap.
