Will these wheels work?
I've been looking for factory wheels for my 68 6 lug GMC that will work with a 10 1/8" hub cap and disc brakes. I found these on CL. Will they work?

Re: Will these wheels work?
I do not think they will, you need the wheels with the four nubs on them where the hub cap attaches. The ones pictured are 3 nub ones, I would not use split rims on anything but low speed farm equipment anyways.

Re: Will these wheels work?
I am going to say no, because he is also selling the front drum brake set up off the truck also which means those are probably 3 nub wheels. I would need to see a pic with out the hub caps on them to know for sure.

Re: Will these wheels work?
So your saying I need to find wheels with 4 nubs and 4 nubs means they will work with disc brakes?

Re: Will these wheels work?
Since they seem to be listed as compatible with 73 and up (why they are not listed for 71 and up, I do not know.
If you want 6 lug rims for a truck with a db conversion, you need 71+ K10 wheels. 70 and prior C10 or K10 wheels, although 6 lug, will not clear the calipers. I'm (personally) not certain where the transition from 3 to 4 nub occurred. However, it's worth posting a wtb ad on here for 71+ K10 6 lugs or making a few junkyard runs - they can be found. Having said that, all the 60-66 and 67-70 folk are always scrambling for these, grab em if you can find em. Quick question - have you already done the disk conversion? If not, you could choose a 5 lug db conversion and then an inexpensive 6-to-5 lug rear axle conversion. CPP sells those. Then you can find the 5 lug 71+ C10 truck wheels just about anywhere. |

Re: Will these wheels work?
I already have 6 lug disc brakes. So what exactly should I be looking for because I keep getting mixed answers?

Re: Will these wheels work?
The answer is a 6x5.5 wheel that was made for a 71+ K10 (or K5) - and that appears to be what you've found in the link you posted. The nubs will be correct if you find 'THAT' wheel. I would not reference the picture in the link you posted, or count nubs, it says right below the image that it is only a representative photo. The application seems to be correct for the matches that are listed below the picture, so, yes, I think the wheels you posted in the above link will work. Note they have a guarantee, so perhaps only ship one and make sure it fits before paying for shipping on them all. I believe those are correct for what you are looking for. Are your disk brake calipers stock size? If larger aftermarket, there may still be interference.

Re: Will these wheels work?
you betcha, hope they work out. One other source I've used is these guys - http://www.originalwheels.com/chevro...0rims-1972.php The 2nd wheel shown is what I'd expected to see listed for this stock application (i.e. 71-87 vice 73+ because the cut in for the new 6 lug wheel was in 71). Anyway, I think either place will work. And the ones you found are less expensive, a better option especially if you're gonna blast and pc the wheels. No need to pay for paint that will be stripped. For what it's worth - these guys list the exact same part number (939) for the 73 K10s also (not just 72s), so pretty sure you're good to go either way.
They don't always have stuff in stock, but if they do, they are very reliable, and they ship at $25/wheel. I made the trip to see them to save $100 shipping... But I've been there twice. |

Re: Will these wheels work?
I found this one on eBay. There are others on there and want to make sure they are correct.

Re: Will these wheels work?
I saw those too - I mean I saw a 1/8" o/s version available SOMEwhere. I'd personally go with stock o/s if you are using stock steelies to be safe.
