Source for '59 fleetside spear trim clips?
I know these are super rare but does anyone know a source for the clips that hold the trim pieces onto the fleetside bed spears? Or one that will work in it's place?
These: The holes are 5/16" in diameter. The clips are 1.5" long and 5/8" wide. |

Measure the width of the trim profile it needs to go into and head to a auto paint and body supply place. I know the one I go to has a couple of display racks with hundreds of different trim pieces. That is what I did for some of my 64 Chevelle trim pieces.

Thanks
I may have to get on the horn to find these. I was really hoping someone with a delux fleetside had already found a source to save me the foot work. |

Still no luck with these. I wonder what others are using. The factory clips are extremely brittle and many broke when the trim came off.

You should be able to find what you need at Restoration Specialties. If you can reach the rear side of the bed I'd use the type clips that have a threaded stud and use a nut to hold them on. Those push-in style clips will scratch the paint of off the edge of the hole when you insert them.

Te problem with RS is they list no size specs in their catalog. I agree about the screw on clips but I only have rear access to about half of the holes.

Re: Source for '59 fleetside spear trim clips?
Lack of response is because of the rariety of the trim. I have been looking for a good relatively inexpensive set for 20 years. They are now repoped but still out of my budget. next time I have some time running around I will take the dims and go by the paint store, it is close, and see if I can match it up. I need to see about some color options anyway.

I put as mic on the clip yesterday and the interior trim width direction is actually .770" and needs to snap into a 5/16" hole in the fender. |

Well I'm pretty confident I found the clips I need. Now I just need to order them and keep my fingers crossed.
By all the specs I've gotten talking to a guy holding one, it seems like these should be a perfect match...... Clips |
