Wtb Dana 60 4:10 4x4 rear end
I am learning as I go. Today I was cleaning off the rearend I had for my 72 3/4 ton project. It is the Eaton rearend, but appears to be a 1 ton rearend H0 72? I am not going to use it.
I will be listing a Dana 44 front 3/4 ton complete front end and the Eaton HO rear end. Both of these are 4:10 matched set. I am searching for a 4:10 Dana rearend to replace the big eaton. I think I will need the Dana rear driveline too. Thanks! John |

Re: Wtb Dana 60 4:10 4x4 rear end
Hello, one other thing to consider is the size of the studs for the lug nuts. I pulled the eaton out of my 72 3/4 ton 2wd coil spring truck. I found a 69 with a dana 60 3.54 gears. I thought it was going to be a direct bolt in other than the drive line. I found out that the 69 had 1/2" studs and the eaton I removed had 9/16" studs. I eventually found a 71 with a dana at the pick-n-pull that had the rear hubs that I needed. Hope this helps.

Jon, I think I have one under a 70 GMC truck I purchased last weak. It does have the 9/16" studs. Give me a call. WES

You need a 3/4 dana which all have the 9/16 studs. I have a refurbed 72 3/4 ton Dana with a 410 gear set up and it is a posi to boot. All bearings shims sleeves gaskets were removed checked and replaced if needed by DTS ( Drive Train Specialists here in Mi. housing was de rusted and painted gears were lashed and the thing is like new. I pull these out every time I get a truck and have them gone through as I like to do 3/4 ton trucks and the last one I did was a 72 for a customer and he had 2 rears and opted to go with the 4.56 in his rig. I will sell this one but I think the shipping would be a killer as these things weigh 400 ish pounds let me know if interested.

If you feel like coming up for a drive I might have one for you up here in Surrey B.C . Took mine out of a 68 GMC3/4. It's a posi and I'm pretty sure it's a 4:10

Re: Wtb Dana 60 4:10 4x4 rear end
I believe the 2wd and 4wd D60 rear have different axle perches. I think...
John, I run a Ho 72 in my K20. I had it rebuilt back around 2003, with upgraded axles and locker and it runs smooth, no noise or play. You can still get drums and pads for them. The only issue that Ive seen is the EM brake lines. Seems they were one year only and not reproduced. Finding a 4x4 D60 for that year might be daunting and check brake part availability. If I ever change, Ill go with a 14 Bolt. My 2 cents...

Actually the 3/4 ton Eatons are H052's not H072's. The main difference is that the H072's are dually. Center sections interchange. Also there is a number of things that will interchange with the 14 bolt too.

are you planning on hard 4 wheeling with big tires? If so, might want to consider a 14ff in the back and a dana 60 front.

John,
all good info for sure you just must decide the path you want to take. I also think the 14 bolt is the way to go for serious use and parts availability. I have a line on Dana brake pars and lines and fittings. And if NOS stuff is what you want for a resto I have a complete rear brake set up shoes, drums , wheel cylinders , and some other smalls for the rear brakes as well |
