door rebuild, seals etc...

i would like to fix up the doors on my 70 gmc. i know i had seen something on door seals that went over the lip. not the glue on style. and people thought they worked well. dont remember who had them for sale though.

also, i need to put new seals in the door for all the glass. that i really have never seen much on. need the vent window seal pretty bad, but everything has to be replaced.

also thinking about replacing the window regulators while im at it. start fresh.

any recommendations? any tips on replacing that vent window seal. looks like it may be a pain.

thanks

Re: door rebuild, seals etc...

Tim,

Art Cunningham down in Indianola has all of that stuff. I just did a set of wing windows for the '70 4x4.

As far as the push on door weatherstrip go to your local salvage yard and get them off of a '87-'97 Dodge Dakota pickup. You have to cut about three inches off of them. You can find some nice ones for 5-10 bucks per pair. The nice thing is they are slip fit, you don't have to glue them on. Be sure to get the connector that joins them at the seam. Sometimes it falls out when you remove them. All you need is a phillips screwdriver, small hammer and a prybar. You have to cut about 3" off the length...

i would think finding decent shape used door seals might be the hardest part! most of those old dodges are pretty trashed lol.
