2002 1500HD fuel pressure/hard starting

I have a 2002 1500HD with the 6.0. It's really hard to start sometimes. This morning I checked the fuel pressure and it was at 0 before turning the key, when I turned the key it jumped to 30 and quickly fell to 0, did it again and the same. When it does start, the pressure is at 45.

Bad fuel pump check valve?

sounds like it. you could start with regulator since its up on engine and cheap n easy. take the box off the truck when replacing pump, way easier than dropping tank

Re: 2002 1500HD fuel pressure/hard starting

Thank you. I did check the reg. it seems to be fine though I know they can go bad without spewing gas out the line.

I think I will pull the tank as the truck has a massive headache rack, toolbox and iron rails! Heavier than a near empty tank!

I may just go ahead and replace both for peace of mind.
