Transmission crossmember trouble
Can anyone tell me what trans this crossmember is for? Trying to figure it out before painting it so I can make sure I have the correct one for it.
Thanks in advance. Greg |

Re: Transmission crossmember trouble
Thanks a lot 71tahoe. This is my first build on a truck. I have always had chevelles. I have finally found some threads on here after searching for a couple of hours and it seems there is a special bell housing that is used with this mount? Is that correct? I want to use a four speed trans. Is this the correct mount I need? Also what type of bell housing do I need to find to work with it?
Thanks |

Re: Transmission crossmember trouble
This one will probably ony work on a truck 4sp. One with granny-low.
If you are going with something like a Muncie M22, you will need to cut that one out and probably fabricate one. Hopefully someone will chime in and confirm it will work with the granny-low tranny. |

Re: Transmission crossmember trouble
SAme for 3ott.
Here a link to show the style of bell with the flat ears on the bottom corners that are used to bolt the bell to the crossmember with a rubber mount. If you're putting in a later muncie you'll need a newer bell without the ears, remove the crossmember, and make a rear member or adapt one. THe newer (73-87) trucks have one that works with a few tweeks or one from a early 70's chevelle can be adapted. http://www.chevytalk.org/fusionbb/sh...hp?tid/222096/ |
