TH350 kickdown cable adjustment - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I put a 1" carb spacer underneath my Edelbrock carb, and it threw the kickdown cable for my TH350 tranny out of adjustment. It now stays in gear a little too long before it shifts, and it kicks down to 1st or 2nd gear under lighter throttle than i like it to.

The kickdown cable used to come to the mount on the carb, but after rasing the carb 1" i have to pull the cable out about 1/8" to get it to mount on the throttle bracket. How do i adjust it so i get that 1/8" more of play in it, and it shifts like it used to?

why dont you put a 1" spacer under your cable mount so they are parallel again......jeff

i saw an aftermarket kit for just that problem,,,,ill try to find it.....

I was thinking about that too, but i didn't want to stack up a bunch of washers between the kickdown cable braket and my intake.....that kit would be a good idea if it dosent cost too much $$$.

If you look at the cable where it fits in the bracket there is a square slot on it --pull the knob in this square up--have someone mash gas feed to floor--while holding it to floor push the knob back down--this should put it back to where it was .

Try adjusting it, if that does not work, let me know...I know I have some spacers in my tool box at work that will be perfect for your aplication...no washers. I'll ship them out to you no charge.
You could disconnect it tempararily untill you get it right, that won't hurt a TH350.
Look at the spacer on my steering pump in this pic, this is what I am talking about.
