ecu placement ideas?

I'm going to be putting my ecu on the drivers side fender well, anyone got any idea's on how to do so? something clean or/and unique?

i have a ammo can I've been pondering the idea with, it has foam in it and is water tight...just a thought and ponder at this point

You'll have to page through my build since I can't find the photobucket image, but if you look through it or my "LSx powered 66 C10" video on my channel, you can see how its setup.

I have my ecu behind the drivers headlight, with all the wiring and relays out in the open on the inner fenderwell. Easy-access everything.

I used an old sign to mount the pcm and tac module to the drivers fender. You just have to be careful of the hood hinge and spring when closing the hood.

I used the s-10 mount and just put it right behind the headlight under the horn and horn relay. Mine's a '66 so the inner fenderwell has some angular flats that are good for bolting stuff too.

Here's mine was kinda tricky. Had to remove the head light for the install to get the angle of the ecu just right or it would run into the head light and the fender well. I was only able to see the angle by looking through the side marker hole.

I was looking at where to put mine last weekend. I settled on the drivers side behind the head light. should turn out pretty accessible and hide most of the wiring. it also works with stock harnesses.

i cut up this fancy ammo can i got from a buddy of mine...im going to mount it on the drivers side fender panel, I'm going right on top, so that way the tac harness fits in the cab and to the pedal good...once i get that section of the harness in ill be put the final touches on it...im hoping to do this tomorrow then started by the weekend..................hopefully

Rob, how tight is it under the battery? Do you have a auxiliary tray or something else?

It's an Aux tray. Same amount or room as under the factory tray. I mounted the water pump for the supercharger heat exchanger under the tray.

From intake tube (between throttle body and MAF) to passenger side valve cover. From drivers side valve cover to the catch can. From catch can to throttle body.

Thanks thinking of adding one to my conversion, no blower on mine but have read that the ls are prone to sucking oil.

Oil consumption on LS family engines is an early-model concern, and the kind of thing that ls-haters use as a talking point (tho not completely untrue). Personally, I have used the factory recommended weight of 5w30 in various brands including Royal Purple with no problems or changes in pressure.

Also, and this is a BIG also....almost all modern close-tolerance engines will have oil consumption. All of the Chysler family engines from the same generation have problems as bad or worse in that sense. 6.1's had oil usage problems, the SRT4 with its turbo damn near required an oil catch as not to foul out the IAT. As modern engines are designed to run hot, tight, and with a little lubrication as possible...oils thin down, and as a result they are easily blown by. With no uncertainty I can say that a catch can is a valid mod to about 95% of cars on the market today.

sorry for the double, and the hijack but i have like a million dumb questions about this.

my PCV "valve" is more like a restrictor, there's no spring/weight in there like on all the sbc's bbc's and bbo's i've messed with.

I had a pretty good amount of oil in my intake when I pulled it to switch the knock sensors
