How hard is it
To remove the dash on my 63? Maaco is concerned it'll be a major PITA. They are also concerned they might find major issues once it's removed. I doubt that will be the case though.

Re: How hard is it
I thought they were welded along the windshield area. I didn't think they unbolt out, so it's likely going to be a major issue getting it out and it will need to be welded back in. Could be wrong as I don't know the 60-63 cabs as well as the 64-66 cabs.
Anyone have an answer?

Re: How hard is it
Are you talking about the entire dash, or just the instrument cluster? The entire dash is bolted at the ends as well as some spot welds there, and then it is spot welded along the entire length of the bottom of the windshield. Yes is is a bit of a PITA. I see absolutely no reason to remove the dash.
I thought Maaco just did a quick block sand, shoot some color and call it good.

Re: How hard is it
If you're talking about removing the entire dash (Metal and all) here's a video set that walks you through the entire process. He's working on a 1977 C10, but the principle should be the same. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfEuljIG_nc

Re: How hard is it
Captain, they can do the scuff and shoot but they can do much more as well.
On mine they are going to take the entire outside to bare metal, a panel or 2 at a time. Rough primer/sealer it and onto the next panels. Will take them awhile to get it all done. Once it's stripped down then Bondo and repair as needed. Finish prime, sand and then paint, 2 tone on mine, elec. blue on the body nickel on top and pillars. The inside is in much better shape, scuff and paint.

Re: How hard is it
If you don't think there are any major problems in that area, why would you/they consider removing the dash?? I've attached some pics of my boys project (truck, but dash is same) to show the number of spot welds along the dash/windshield intersection and what's behind/under there...as Cap has mentioned, it would be (is) a major PITA and doesn't really allow unique access to much
