Exhaust Question

Right now I have h-pipe on my 72 longbed and its getting to that time where it needs to be replaced and was wanting to change to a x-pipe. For you guys out there who have a x-pipe, how did you do it? I dont want mine to hang low and be seen. I have a few ideas in mind and will probably run 2.5 inch off my headers then into the x and either fabricate it to come out of the x at 3 inch or after it and then come out with chrome tear drop tips turned on their side to be flush with the body before the rear wheels. Any suggestions or comments are helpful and so are pics if your able. Also I don't need to worry about room for mufflers because I'm gonna run straight pipes.
Thanks guys!
