Pickup, SUV collide on I-70
Anyone know this person? I'm fairly active on here but know anyone locally except for Randy (TeeItUp). Pretty sure I just saw a post the other day with this truck in it and noticed Topeka in the sig.

That stinks. That truck must have rearended that Highlander pretty hard to cause that kind of damage. Three photos and they are all of the 67.

Darn toyotas, just kidding lucky anybody wasn't hurt. Like 71 SWB said that was a very solid hit especially on the old 1967-72

Re: Pickup, SUV collide on I-70
It doesn't take much, I did this 5-10mph. Bent the framehorns, diamond shaped the frame, pushed fender into wheel. Don't drive tired.

Re: Pickup, SUV collide on I-70
Saw the story and remembered seeing the truck and the guy driving it in O'reilly auto 2 nights ago. To bad about the truck but luckily nobody was seriously injured, could have been a very bad deal.

Re: Pickup, SUV collide on I-70
Dang that 67 looked pretty sore.
brad_man_, that didn't look to good either. I know what it's like to drive tired though. I almost drove the family minivan off the road once because I was really sleepy.

Re: Pickup, SUV collide on I-70
I hit a 10 point buck with my old 67 at 65 MPH. Bounced off the right front fender did a 360 on the grill and then flung off the drivers fender. Only got a 3/4" dent in the metal grill. Sometimes you get lucky and other times it is amazing what will kill the truck. I saw one in the bone yard that hit a pole square between the frame rails. Pushed the front end comepleatly into the motor. The fan was conformed to the engine block. I couldnt believe that the frame rails actually looked straight. I am sure it was off a little but it definatly faired well.

Re: Pickup, SUV collide on I-70
That Highlander was hit while standing on it's brakes,so damage is worse. That pole base wasn't gonna budge, either. I've bumped them just starting to move a few inches and messed up my truck pretty good

Re: Pickup, SUV collide on I-70
And people make fun of me for my rule of not exceeding 60 mph on the interstate.
Don't follow so closely next time. Let's hope this truck gets fixed or at least parted out. My truck, with it's 4:11, will not be driven on the interstate. Secondary roads for her! |

Re: Pickup, SUV collide on I-70
Speed limits are just that, an upper limit, not a speed to match with one's foot. Govt, in its wisdom, gives us a slow and passing lane. I spend most of my time in the slow lane. When I judge the conditions to be present, I go into NASCAR mode and act like all the other idiots thinking it's a race. It is fun, I have to admit.
