55 gmc rear suspension

I'm thinking about moving the leaf springs in a couple inches for more tire clearance. Has anybody done this and what spring mounts did you use.

I think many many years ago I read something about a guy boxing the frame in the areas where the spring hangers fastened on and moving the spring hangers side to side on the inside of the frame rails rather than the outside to get clearance for big rubber. Kind of a low buck pro street mod at the time . The way the hangers are made just in a couple of inches won't work.
