New guy with new truck

Just picked up 71 Cheyenne. I've owned several C/K's over the years, but never a Cheyenne. Anyway, registered for the forum and look forward to using the knowledge here in the future, and contributing where I can.

Re: New guy with new truck

I love it! My 72 C-20 long bed is exactly the same color,(other than the Saddle color paint I have below the trim kit).

Welcome aboard..

Re: New guy with new truck

Thanks! I'm stoked. I've loved my Duramax for the last 8 years, but I decided it was time to start driving something cool again...so the Dmax is going to my son.

BTW - tried to look at your two-tone, but it appears the link in your sig is dead.

Yeah, pardon the dead pic-link, I've since dumped photobucket for good & haven't replaced it yet... (too busy working on vehicles, I suppose. I have three vintage, aircooled VWs & a Harley also, at least I've finally sold my plane! ).

Nice, I've got a rigid project I'm "almost" done with, and a 59 impala which is coming along nicely as well.

I always seem to have more projects than time...or money...or sense...

Well, it's pretty much original. Found on CL and my wife recognized it as being previously owned by someone she used to work with. Got ahold of that guy and he brought it to AK from WA back around 99. He sold in 03 when he left the state. He said it was all original, except the motor is now a stroker. He did say it was the original block, but I haven't verified that. The truck was later impounded by the US Marshall's and went to a seizure auction, where an Alaska State Trooper Captain bought. Another trooper bought it from the Captain n 08. Rebuilt the transfer case and had the bed Rhino Lined. He drove it until last fall and is going through a divorce, so he listed it. That's where I come in. The only thing that appears to not be stock is the bed liner, the stroker work, and a non-factory tach mounted on the column. He has a factory tach for it, so that'll probably be one of the first projects.

It does have some rust in the drier side rocker, but that's the only rust I saw, so a new rocker is in its future too. The rest of the truck and paint is to nice to do a complete strip, so hopefully my body guy can get a close paint match on he rocker.

I've never seen one nicer that wasn't fresh out of a restoration. I'm pretty happy to own it.

I think it just doesn't have paint on it. I'd take a better pic, but I don't actually pick the truck up from the PO till things dry out a bit here. He doesn't want to rut up his yard moving from the back of the house.
