Stepside hidden tailgate latches
I bought a brothers hidden tailgate latch set that eliminates the chains. I'm curious if anybody has used these and what they have done with latches on the side that the chains go through.

Re: Stepside hidden tailgate latches
I used them on mine...those latches are spot welded on and you can grind the heads down and the will come right off, with a little convincing..you do have to do some thinking about straps or the tailgate will hit the bumper every time you open it. we incorporated a newer style cable off a new Silverado. it does require that you cut the tailgate for the cable to fold in and be hidden..i don't have any pics of it right now. not sure how much cutting you can do or if this is a finished truck.

Re: Stepside hidden tailgate latches
Yea I figured I could grind it off. And then do some patch work to smooth it out. If you find some pics that would be cool. I haven't been able so find any close ups of guys without the chain latches.
